This extremely rare tin is reminiscent of the Knights Templar as it depicts battle scenes involving medieval knights on horseback with swords drawn. However there is a bit of fantasy in that on the ends of the tin there are scenes showing a dragon being slayed by a knight. The maker is Huntley & Palmers. Huntley & Palmers is a British firm of biscuit makers originally based in Reading, Berkshire. The company created one of the world's first global brands and ran what was once the world’s largest biscuit factory. The company was established in 1822. Over the years, the company was also known as J. Huntley & Son and Huntley & Palmer. Their tins are of the highest quality and are often very artistic in their use of shape, paintwork and embossing. This tin is over 125 years old and is stunning as a decorative piece. We have not found another like it anywhere on the market. It has some wear which is consistent with the age as it is a true antique and highly collectible. The wear actually gives it character. It would be a lovely addition to any vintage tin collection! We are always open to sensible offers! The measurements of the tin are : length 11 inches, width at widest part 5 1/4 inches and height is 5 inches We are certainly open to offers on this piece, within reason, please do get in touch!
